A Busy Week in Year 1

Year 1 have had a very busy week. Â It is British Science Week this week and we have been doing practical investigations and learning about the conservationist Jane Goodall. Â We discovered that if you measure the circumference of tress you can find out how old they are. We took part in a treasure hunt where […]
Seasons in Reception

In Reception we talked about the seasons and how the world changes in Spring time, from the flowers starting to grow, to the animals waking up. We went for a walk around the school and into the Eco-Garden to look for signs of Spring. We spotted the blossom, leaves starting to grow on the trees, […]
Electricity in Year 6

This week in Year 6, we spent lots of time planning, carrying out and evaluating an investigation on electricity. The children worked in groups to explore what happens when they vary the components in a circuit. Some groups even measured wire the length of top corridor to investigate whether the brightness of the bulb was […]
Germination in Year 2

In Year 2 this week we have been learning all about germination. We also created our own bumblebees and discovered how pollen can spread from flower to flower and create new flowers. “It was a really fun activity and we loved making our bees. The glitter started as separate colours and when the bees moved […]
The Science of Sound in Year 4

In Science this term we are learning all about sound. We have found out how sound is created and how sound travels. This week, we have been looking at different pitches, and we used a glockenspiel to see how the different sized keys created different pitches. We compared pitch to volume and now know how […]
Spaghetti Towers in Year 2

This week the children took part in a team building challenge to test team work, resilience and communication. They have learnt the names of the different phases and the order that […]
New Species in Year 6

Year 6 have been learning about classification in science and have studied Carl Linnaeus and his standardised classification system. Last week, the children thoroughly enjoyed creating new species which had the characteristics of a specific group that they had chosen. Their partners then had to classify their animals by analysing their features. Â
