Animals in Year 1

In science we are learning about carnivores, omnivores and herbivores.  We looked at their teeth to try and work out what they would eat.  We then sorted the animals.

Experiments in Year 1

This week in Year 1 we investigated what happened when we added water to a plate with skittles on. We found out that when the water was added, the food colouring dissolved and the colours made a beautiful rainbow. After this, we were full of questions… “What would happen if we used different sweets?” “Would […]

Explorers in Nursery

The Nursery children enjoyed visiting the Eco garden to become mini explorers, on the hunt to find some minibeasts. They used magnifying glasses and searched high and low, looking under rocks, logs and leaves, finding lots of woodlice, beetles, ants, flies and snails. We found evidence of caterpillars when we saw some leaves that had […]

Mini Beasts in Nursery

We have really enjoyed learning about mini beasts in Nursery! This week we have been busy exploring different media to create our favourite creepy crawlies, paying close attention to their features and patterns. This has given us a lot to talk about as we have discussed the differences and similarities between these little critters and […]

Life Cycles in Year 1

In Science in Year 1, we have been learning about life cycles of different animal groups and talking about the huge changes that happen to frogs and caterpillars in particular, as they grow into adults. We learnt that this is called metamorphosis! Along with our learning, we have been really lucky to watch our very own […]

Science Week in Year 1

Year 1 kicked off their Science Week with a visit from Tim Kaye from Cultivating Learning and Nature.  They examined creatures found in our pond including tadpoles and leeches and then explored creatures found on land such as shiny woodlice and some impressive worms.   We had a fantastic time and learned a lot.

Science Week in Nursery

This week in Nursery we have become Scientists investigating magnets, creating colour changing ‘walking water’ and changing the colour of flowers. We have discovered which objects float and sink and had a go at the ‘skittles experiment’. We were also lucky enough to have a visitor come and help us find different creatures (minibeasts and […]

Science and Computing Workshops in Year 3

Today, Year 3 were very lucky to have the opportunity to take part in a science/computing workshop. All children participated in three different, exciting activities. One was using VR headsets and looking at what you can do with a class VR. This included going inside the Amazon Rainforest, the Mars Rover, and hot air ballooning over […]

Human Body… VR Style! in Year 6

What a fantastic afternoon Year 6 had to kick off their science week. We were given the opportunity to revise our knowledge of the human body through virtual reality! We were given a tour through space and with the help of some very knowledgeable robots revised parts of the body including the circulatory system, the […]

Scientific Experiments in Year 4

Year 4 have been creating their own Scientific experiments this week. They have been studying forces and used their knowledge of this topic to come up with their different areas of study. They loved having the magnets and some of the children used these to test out the magnetic force on the different objects they […]
