Fireworks in Nursery

The children in Nursery have enjoyed watching fireworks and sharing their experiences of them. We have done a variety of different activities linked with fireworks, including painting, drawing, creating lollipop fireworks and firework dancing.

Diwali in Reception

Reception have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. As well as creating clay diya lamps, we’ve been busy decorating rangoli patterns and making them with loose parts, and painting mehndi designs on hand templates.

Halloween in Reception

Reception have enjoyed lots of fun Halloween themed activities this week, including hammering nails into pumpkins, making bat pictures and creating potions! 

Fireworks in Year 1

The children in Year 1 used what they have learnt about different lines to create their own fireworks pictures. We used oil pastels and created vertical, horizontal, wavy, curvy and diagonal lines, as well as using cross hatching to add depth to our pictures.

Phillis Wheatley – Year 5

In Year 5 we have been learning about the life and works of Phillis Wheatley. As a result, we have created some art and poetry based on her magnificent poetry.

Year 5 & 6 Spanish Club

This week, children from Year 5 & Year 6 have started Spanish club after school. We learnt all about the ‘Day of the Dead’ festival and the artwork associated with it. The children created and coloured skull masks, made origami flowers and painted papel picado. 

Artists in Year 6

This week in art, pupils have been researching artists who will serve as inspiration for their final pieces. They searched facts and explored methods and techniques they wish to use.
