On Thursday, selected girls from Year 3 and 4 took part in a Girls Football Festival which took place at Sutton Primary Academy. The festival was based around taking part and having fun rather than being competitive. The girls played small-sided games, with the focus being dribbling and finding space. They enjoyed this as it gave them more chance to get on with the game without coaches instructing them. They spoke about the benefits of having freedom to play games and how it took off the pressure without others intervening. Despite playing for over two hours, the girls wanted to play more and it was excellent to see the interest after.Â
Thank you to Mr Gibbs of Sutton Primary for putting together such a wonderful event.Â
