Skittles in Year 1

We have been looking at the popular skittles experiment in Science in Year 1. We added warm water to the skittles and watched as the colours ran in together to make a mixed rainbow. Next we are planning ways to change our experiment and have made predictions about what will happen.

Coronation Street Party

We have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the Kings Coronation, culminating in a street party in the playground. We danced away to music, played games, enjoyed cakes and devoured ice creams. Forest School Artists in Year 1

In forest school this week 1S went litter picking before going on a scavenger hunt. Once they had found the items on their hunt they displayed them in a frame as their artwork.

Beebots in Year 1

Year 1 children have been learning to program Beebots. We had a go at each becoming a human Beebot and a human controller, before creating our own Beebot worlds and directing our Beebots around the map.

Snow in Year 1

This week Year 1 have been tracking the weather. We decided to go out and experience the little snow we did get in Hereford. Catching snowflakes on our tongues was good fun!

World Book Day in Year 1

Year 1 enjoyed celebrating World Book Day by learning to recite the poem they have been studying ‘If I Had Wings’. The children enjoyed decorating their t-shirts looking at the different senses. We think our t-shirts look fantastic! What do you think?

Safer Internet Day

Children in Year 1 up to Year 6 took part in Safer internet Day before the end of term. Safer internet Day encouraged celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’. Shabbat in Year 1

In RE this week we re-enacted the beginning of a Jewish Shabbat meal.  We laid the table, lit candles and had some Ribena (instead of wine) and tasted Challah bread baked by Mrs Steele.  We have really enjoyed learning about Judaism and love the words Mezuzah and Synagogue.
