Making it Rain in Year 4

Year 4 have been learning about the water cycle this week. They have been explaining the main events of the water cycle, where the processes of evaporation and condensation occur and that it keeps going in a closed cycle. Using a ziplock bag & a little bit of coloured water, we created a demonstration that […]

Adaptation in Year 6

To begin our new Science topic in Year 6 of Evolution and Inheritance, we discussed how animals must adapt to their environment in order to survive. We were tasked with camouflaging a white butterfly somewhere in the classroom, in plain sight. We had great fun with this activity and look forward to inviting people into […]

The Human Body in Year 3

This week in Science, we have been looking at the human body. Year 3 had to carefully draw around one of their friends and label everything they already knew about our bodies. The children had incredible knowledge and were able to label parts such as the kidneys, lungs and even the diaphragm! We will be […]

Marvellous Mechanisms in Year 5

This week, in Science, Year 5 have been learning all about pulleys, levers and gears. We identified what these different mechanisms were before spotting them in everyday things around us, such as on watches, bikes and on our classroom doors. We wanted to make some new mechanisms that would make our lives a lot easier. […]

Science and Spanish in Year 3

Year 3 have been busy this week recording their learning in Science and Spanish.  We have managed to wow ourselves with everything we have learnt.

Digestion Experiment in Year 3

In Science this week, as part of our topic on the Human Body, Year 3 did an experiment to show how our digestive systems work.

Science Club Fun

We have been very busy in science club.  The children have really enjoyed exploring programmable LEGO.  Some of their creations were phenomenal! Ks1 made some magnet mazes using their favourite characters and Ks2 have had fun making bath bombs.

Experimenting in Year 2

This week in Science we were looking into materials and had to design a suitable outfit for ‘Traction Man’, made from waterproof materials.  Here we are experimenting with different materials.

Adaptation in Year 6

In Science this week, as part of our topic on Evolution and Inheritance, we learnt about adaption and how animals have had to adapt to their environments. We had to pick an animal, find its correct environment and then explain its adaptive traits. Here are some examples:

Skittles in Year 1

We have been looking at the popular skittles experiment in Science in Year 1. We added warm water to the skittles and watched as the colours ran in together to make a mixed rainbow. Next we are planning ways to change our experiment and have made predictions about what will happen.
