Experiments in Year 1

This week in Year 1 we investigated what happened when we added water to a plate with skittles on. We found out that when the water was added, the food colouring dissolved and the colours made a beautiful rainbow. After this, we were full of questions… “What would happen if we used different sweets?” “Would […]

Explorers in Nursery

The Nursery children enjoyed visiting the Eco garden to become mini explorers, on the hunt to find some minibeasts. They used magnifying glasses and searched high and low, looking under rocks, logs and leaves, finding lots of woodlice, beetles, ants, flies and snails. We found evidence of caterpillars when we saw some leaves that had […]

Mini Beasts in Nursery

We have really enjoyed learning about mini beasts in Nursery! This week we have been busy exploring different media to create our favourite creepy crawlies, paying close attention to their features and patterns. This has given us a lot to talk about as we have discussed the differences and similarities between these little critters and […]

Farms in Nursery

Nursery have been busy creating farm animals using different media, looking and thinking carefully about their different features. They had great fun making ‘muddy’ animal footprints and tractor tracks and equally enjoyed giving the animals a wash after! We’ve also been making the most of the beautiful weather, having lots of fun outside.

Fairies in Reception

Reception have enjoyed a wonderful and magical ‘fairy’ themed week.  We have shared fairy stories and have performed fairy dances incorporating our colourful wings! The children also had a fantastic time whilst going on a (very glittery!) fairy hunt around the school, reading clues that led them to the next location.  Once completed, everyone received […]

Frank and Bert in Year 1

On our curious quests this week we have been reading a book about great friends called Frank and Bert.  We have been learning how to use exclamation marks.  We drew the characters and wrote exclaiming sentences!

Decimals and Fractions in Year 5

This week in Maths, Year 5 have enjoyed competing against each other to be the first to make the equivalent decimal number of a fraction, on an interactive place value grid.

Memory Boxes in Year 4

In PSHE, Year 4 are learning about coping with loss and how we can remember those who we lost. This week, we made items for a memory box for a potential pet we had lost. We had an array of different materials to choose from. Some children chose to write beautiful poems, others made collars, […]

Observational Drawings in Year 3

This week in Year 3, we have been looking at Charles Darwin and Carl Linnaeus. We looked closely at their observational study drawings, and tried to recreate their style by drawing our own. We had a rose each, and used texture and shading to make our drawings look as much like the real thing as […]

Baby visits in Nursery

We had some special visitors this week as we have been learning all about babies! We loved meeting baby Evelyn and baby Frankie. The children have enjoyed role playing in the baby clinic and thinking carefully about what babies need and how we can take care of them. In our circle times we discussed the […]
