Chinese New Year in Nursery

Nursery have really enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year this week. We have learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story (the great animal race) and how the Chinese community prepare for and celebrate this special occasion. We’ve also particularly focused on developing fine motor skills by using chopsticks, copying Chinese symbols and writing Chinese numerals in rice.
Children in Need Activities

Abstract Fish

Year 4 pupils have been learning about the artist- Jason Vincent Scarpace. He is renowned for creating abstract, contemporary modernist art work. Our pupils enthusiastically recreated work inspired by his fish designs. They experimented with blending pastels and line drawing. Their artwork is featured in our Y3 & Y4 pop up art gallery yesterday.
Cave Paintings

Year 3 have been learning about the Stone Age and how early people learned to communicate. The children were fascinated by the cave painting at Lascaux in France from approx 18,000 years ago. Our Year 3 pupils have created their own art in the style of stone age cave paintings.
