On Tuesday 3S swapped the classroom for a construction site when they visited the site of the new Midlands Centre for Cyber Security earlier this week.
The year three pupils joined the team from building contractor Speller Metcalfe to help create an ‘eco patch’ on the building site.
The children got handy creating various animal environments including two large ‘bug hotels’ and were also given a lesson in health and safety on building sites with Speller Metcalfe’s safety mascot Buzz Sitegear.
Speller Metcalfe Environmental Lead, Sam Minett-Smith said: “We are so pleased to have been able to invite the children from Lord Scudamore Academy to help us create our on-site ‘eco patch’.”
Building work obviously can have a negative impact on the environment so it’s really important for us to do what we can to try to offset this.
One of the ways we do this is by creating positive environments for the wildlife which could potentially be disrupted by our activity and it was fantastic to seen how much the children enjoyed getting involved.”
