Blind Football in Year 6

IMG_0754

Year 6 were very fortunate to have a visit from some students and coaches from The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC). Some of them played football for the college and England as well as playing internationally in other sports.

The children were able to practise and experience dribbling and passing skills as if they were visually impaired by wearing blindfolds and using a sound football. They worked together in small groups by listening and following clear instructions so the children blindfolded were able to locate the ball coming towards them. The children were taught different words and cues used in blind football such as ‘voy’ which helps them locate where another player is.

We cannot thank Adam, Dylan and the students enough for giving these children a wonderful experience! Thank you to Zac @ thePoint4 for helping organise this day for us.
