As part of British Science Week last week we had a visiting workshop at Lord Scudamore called Science in a Suitcase.
This was in essence, a mobile hands-on science centre, a road-show – the activities were designed to attract, engage and encourage scientific thinking (they were also fun!).
The hands on exhibits and activities are designed to enhance and complement the Science curriculum.
They support scientific enquiry – children are encouraged:
To Observe – to look for patterns, to look for the unusual
To Estimate – to recognise changes
To Formulate Their Own Ideas – to make predictions
To Communicate – to discuss their ideas with their friends
To engage in the Same Activities as some of the Great Scientists – to combine creative thinking and experimental evidence.
A great time was had by all.
