Meadow Room

Our Meadow Room offers a space for children to access nurture and support.
Made up of two small rooms, our larger room has seating and tables, a book corner, guitar, puppets and games.
Our smaller room doubles as a sensory room with lights and beanbags to relax. We have two Learning Mentors who work with children on a one to one basis as well as groups. Both Learning Mentors are ELSA trained and promote and aid emotional literacy whenever they can. Both are also Teaching Assistants within the school so children are familiar with them.
Children may access support for a range of reasons including regulation of emotions, bereavement, friendship troubles, mental health, family upset or for any reason that may be upsetting a child and they need support with. Â
We work closely with teachers, parents and other agencies and the Meadow room is available if outside agencies need to visit such as family support. Activities we do include craft, sewing, games, art, focused programs to support specific needs which may include worksheets, chatting, play work, teamwork activities and mindfulness activities. We run groups such as Lego Club, Socially Speaking and Nurture club. Children are referred to us for support by Teachers who have liaised with parents. We also run a Bubble Box which is for smaller worries and which can be accessed by children directly. The Bubble Box is checked daily. The Meadow Room is a safe space which allows for children to be emotionally supported within school.
