Year 6 have been studying Black History Month this week in English, specifically British Black History and how people have made their stamp on the world.
We have researched Sir Lewis Hamilton who is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula One for Mercedes. Hamilton, the only black driver in F1 history and a seven-time world champion, has given the fortune to his Mission 44 foundation which aims to help people from under-represented groups gain opportunities in education and employment.
The year 6 pupils were asked to research Sir Lewis Hamilton and create a fact page. We also studied Blackout Poetry and created poems based on rising from nothing and making your mark.
