World Book Day ~ Year 1 to Year 6

World Book Day is being held this year on Thursday 1st March. We will be celebrating with reading activities throughout the school. Your child is invited to come dressed as their favourite character from a story/book they enjoy. They may also bring a box with up to five objects in it relating to their book (although we would encourage precious items to remain at home). During the day they will also have the opportunity to write a book review.

Each Year Group will have the opportunity to participate in a shared write with their Teachers. The winners will receive a prize to be enjoyed in their class. This proved to be an exciting and popular event previously.

A Book Token will also be coming home with your child. This allows the children to visit a participating Book Shop/Store to exchange for a World Book Day Book.

We are also running a competition for the children to take home. Reading with your child now can have long-lasting benefits for their future and, because we know how busy you are, the great news is that reading together for JUST 10 MINUTES a day can make all the difference. So we would like you to read to your child for 10 mins on World Book Day. Your child will be given a reading voucher to be filled in and brought back to school on Friday 2nd March. The class with the highest number of vouchers will receive a class prize.

At Lord Scudamore Academy we are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day and look forward to your support.
